Please know that the City’s highest priority is your safety and the safety of others. \n Please note that the Fall Art Show is tentative due to the changing nature of the current situation. DESCRIPTION:This is to notify you that this exhibition has been canceled. \nThe Point Arena Light Station was established on September 30\, 1869 and the original tower was first lit on May 1\, 1870.  2020 represents the 150th anniversary of the Point Arena Lighthouse lighting the way on the coast.  This exhibit is intended to celebrate this significant sesquicentennial of a Mendocino coast icon.  The exhibit is open to all types of visual media\, i.e. painting\, photography\, sculpture\, fabric arts\, ceramics\, mixed media\, jewelry\, woodworking\, etc. It will be an exhibit inspired by the Lighthouse and the coast that it protects and represents.

I will be in booth 324.\n\n\nwww.mlaproductions.com/PaloAlto/\n\n\nThe backbone of the festival and the key to its success are the three hundred fine artists and crafters whose display booths are placed back-to-back along University Avenue. These exhibitors are the reason why this festival attracts such a high percentage of fine artists and crafters whose work you’ll see only at a few select shows on the West Coast. \nAnd don’t forget to stop by and listen to sidewalk piano virtuosos. Located on the plaza at the corner of University & Tasso Streets: Chopin and Chandeliers. For more info. \nAnd\, always a crowd-pleaser\, the Italian Street Painting Expo\, sponsored by the Palo Alto Weekly\, will again offer sixty chalk artists creating larger-than-life works of art all weekend long on Tasso Street. This year’s beneficiary of the funds raised by the Italian Street Painting Expo is Palo Alto’s Youth Community Service. \nLocal participation is high at this event. The Palo Alto Parents & Professionals for Art are the organizers and beneficiaries of the kids’ art & crafts area called the Kids’ Art Studio. Also\, the Kiwanis Club of Palo Alto will again manage and serve the micro-brews and fine wines that can be found throughout the festival. \nPLEASE NOTE: the City of Palo Alto has a ban on the use of plastic & paper bags for carrying purchased merchandise. The Chamber of Commerce highly recommends that festival attendees bring their own tote bags for easy transportation of multiple purchases. \nFor those driving to the festival\, free parking is within a block or two of the festival site\, with parking for disabled patrons in all city lots. Festival attendees though are encouraged to use public transit or ride a bike. Ling -Yen defines her work as useful \, artistic and symbolic \nHer intention for each piece is that its clean looking\, distinctive and artistically rendered. \nDavina Allen\, the great- granddaughter of Lucienne Bloch\, Frida Kahlos best friend\, grew up with the black and white photographs of Kahlo and was inspired after a trip to the Portland rose garden to bring color to the stunning photos.  Davina has digitally incorporated the vivid colors of the roses into her grandmothers images on  metal without disturbing the original vision\, but adding to its composition and beauty. \nMeet the artists\, enter the Mothers day drawing\, enjoy Mimosas  and treats on the Porch this Saturday.

DESCRIPTION:The two exhibitions are May 5- May 12 at the Matsumoto Museum of Modern Art in Matsumoto\, Japan \nand May 16 to June 2 Omachi Asagura Art Center in Omachi\, Japan \nMendocino’s Sister City of Omachi\, Nagano\, Japan sits beneath the majestic Japan Alps south of Hakuba and north of Matsumoto  \n\nMendocino Sister Cities Association is dedicated to the promotion of friendly relations and mutual understanding among cultures.\n \nMiasa-Omachi is located on Japan’s main island of Honshu in Nagano Prefecture\, about 150 miles northwest of Tokyo. Omachi-shi 大町市 is located in a long\, wide valley beneath the towering Japan Alps. Miasa-mura 美麻村 (Miasa Village) is about 10 miles east-northeast of Omachi. Miasa 美麻\, means\, “Beautiful Hemp” in English. In 2006 our original Sister City of Miasa was incorporated by Omachi. Miasa-Omachi is the name we have given our new Sister City although\, technically the City of Omachi is our Sister City. \nTo date\, this 25 year consecutive annual exchange has influenced the lives of over 585 students and 290 adults. Some Mendocino students have gone on to attend high school in Japan just as some Miasa students have later attended high school in Mendocino.
