SUMMARY:43rd annual Palo Alto Festival of the Arts August 22-23\, 2026 10 am to 6 pm booth 321
DESCRIPTION:Ling-Yen designs will be in booth 321 \nThis high quality\, community-friendly event is hosted by the Palo Alto Chamber of Commerce with the support of the City of Palo Alto. This event attracts people every year from throughout California and the West Coast. The festival—celebrating its 43rd year—takes place on tree-lined University Avenue in beautiful downtown Palo Alto\, a vital economic area 35 miles south of San Francisco. \nThe backbone of the festival and the key to its success are the 250 fine artists and crafters whose display booths are placed back-to-back along University Avenue. These exhibitors are the reason why this festival attracts such a high percentage of fine artists and crafters whose work you’ll see only at a few select shows on the West Coast. \nWhile strolling through the festival\, don’t forget to stop by and listen to sidewalk piano virtuosos located at Bryant St. Look for the PLAY ME sign. More Info \nThe Italian Street Painting Expo—always a crowd-pleaser—will again showcase chalk artists from throughout the state\, creating larger-than-life works of art. Tasso Street is where it’s happening so don’t miss it. This year’s co-beneficiaries of the Italian Street Painting Expo fund-raisers are the Palo Alto Youth Community Service and Ada’s Cafe. \nLocal participation is high at this event\, throughout the festival\, the Kiwanis Club of Palo Alto will again be serving alcoholic beverages for everyone’s enjoyment. \nPLEASE NOTE: The City of Palo Alto has a ban on the use of plastic & paper bags for carrying purchased merchandise. The Chamber of Commerce highly recommends that festival attendees bring their own tote bags for easy transportation of multiple purchases. \nFor those driving to the festival\, free parking is within a block or two of the festival site\, with parking for disabled patrons in all city lots. Festival attendees though are encouraged to use public transit or ride a bike. For transit information go to 511.org. \nIf you are a dog owner thinking about bringing “Cuddles” to the festival\, please reconsider. Large crowds can easily make a typically mellow dog very anxious & sometimes aggressive.

SUMMARY:2026 Midori Kai Arts & Crafts Outdoor Boutique Saturday\, September 12\, 2026
DESCRIPTION:Midori Kai is a non-profit corporation established in 1996\, and founded with the objective to create an effective organization comprised of Japanese American professional women leaders with various business and creative backgrounds\, who are committed to community involvement\, supporting local charities\, mentoring youth\, and celebrating our Japanese American heritage. \nOver the years\, Midori Kai\, Inc.\, has grown to over 20 Directors\, created an annual Arts & Crafts Boutique community event in March 2000\, which is our major fundraiser. In 2004 Midori Kai established an endowment to ensure Midori Kai could continue to contribute grants to worthy local non-profit organizations.  The 2022 Midori Kai Arts & Craft Boutique will be a “Live Outdoor” event to be held on September 10\, 2022; 9:30 am to 4 pm at Lakeside Office Plaza\, 1279 – 1299 Oakmead Parkway\, Sunnyvale\, CA 94085. \nMidori Kai\, Inc.\, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation\, founded in September 1996 and incorporated in 2000. Midori Kai was established to create an effective organization comprised of Japanese American professional women leaders with various business and creative backgrounds; who are committed to community involvement\, supporting local nonprofit organizations\, mentoring youth\, and celebrating our Japanese American heritage.  Prior to incorporation in 2000\, while defining our future\, our founding Directors framed our mission to bring together women leaders to create and build networks\, to heighten mindfulness\, to build meaningful relationships\, to be champions of dialogue\, learning\, and to serve for the common good.  On November 12\, 1996\, founding Directors approached Reverend Bunyu Fujimura\, Reverend Ejitsu Hojo and Reverend Junjo Tsumura\, retired ministers\, requesting possible names for our newly formed organization. They suggested “Midori Kai”. In Japanese\, Midori translates to “evergreen” or “everlasting” and Kai means “organization.” Our founding Directors agreed this name was very fitting for the new organization. \nadded to the Midori Kai vending boutique list https://midorikai.com/annual-boutique/ \nFind them on \n\nFollow us on Instagram at midorikai.inc\nFollow us on Facebook at Midori Kai\, Inc.

SUMMARY:Iconic Landscapes of Mendonoma at the Whale Watch Room Featuring Tempra Board\, Ink\, Markers & Oil
DESCRIPTION:Iconic Landscapes of Mendonoma \nExhibit at the Lighthouse in Point Arena \nSeptmber 9 to Dec. 13\,2026 \nInk\, watercolor\, oil\, prints\, collage\, & jewelry\nLandscapes\, botanicals\, and wildlife drawings & paintings in ink\, watercolor\, illustrator markers\, collage\, and oil. Originals and high quality limited edition giclee prints available. Greeting cards\, hand-made earrings\, bracelets\, and necklaces of beads\, copper\, shells\, and wood. Ling-Yen designs will have work with Tempra at the Whale Watch Room. \nContact \nWebsites: \ntempraboard.com/art-design \nmarkmakersquarterly.com \ngreywhalegallery.com\nEmail: tempra@tempraboard.com \nCell: 530-828-3406 \nI am a mostly self-trained artist working in ink\, watercolor\, oil\, colored pencil\, collage\, and illustrator markers. I have studied with local artists Mike Henderson (graphite)\, Andrea Allen (Chinese brush painting in sumi ink)\, Kathleen Alexander (watercolor)\, and Humboldt County-based oil painter Rachel Schlueter\, and have continued my art education through the New York Botanical Garden’s courses in Botanical Illustration. \nMy journey with drawing and painting began in earnest when I was introduced to nature journaling during COVID. I take my inspiration from living on The Sea Ranch\, with its mesmerizing and constantly changing landscapes\, and native plants\, birds\, and other wildlife. \nI create images in a unique “ink and marker” style that showcase the iconic landscapes and wildlife of the Mendonoma Coast\, turning the images into collectible prints that have the feel of old WPA posters. \nIn 2024\, wanting to bridge my skills in graphic layout\, writing\, and art\, I launched Mark Makers’ Quarterly (MMQ)\, a print journal of rural California art and artists. In 2026\, in partnership with Kathleen Alexander\, I launched the Grey Whale Gallery\, art studio\, and workshops on The Sea Ranch. \nhttps://www.studiodiscoverytour.com/
