SUMMARY:Point Arena Lighthouse exhibit with Scott Sewell\, photographer & Ling-Yen Jones\, jeweler
DESCRIPTION:Visit the 154 year old Light Station and enjoy the most unique experience on the Mendocino coast! Climb to the top of the 115′ tall Lighthouse Tower and enjoy spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean\, Manchester Beach and the Point Arena/Stornetta Unit of the California Coastal National Monument. Spend time learning the history and technology of the Light Station in the Fog Signal Building Museum\, and be awed by the Museum’s centerpiece – the original 1st Order Fresnel lens that lit the way in the Tower from 1908 through 1977. \nA Candle in the Wind \nScott Sewell is an award-winning landscape photographer specializing in Coastal California\, the High Sierra\, and travel photography. Drawn to the raw beauty of rocks\, waves\, clouds and their moods and textures\, he works in both in black & white\, in color and occasionally shoots urban subjects and people. A fourth-generation Californian with a deep love of the western outdoors and the photography of Ansel Adams\, he has spent the past decade exploring the Mendocino Coast and the Eastern Sierra in search of images. Whether on foot\, horseback or 4×4\, his intimate connection to the land informs his photography\, creating art that captures the spirit of these places. \nLing-Yen Jones is a highly regarded jewelry artist in the Northern California art community\, known for her expertly crafted designs in precious metals and semi-precious gemstones. Her collections feature an array of rings\, pendants\, brooches\, necklaces\, and earrings\, each reflecting her distinctive artistic vision. Many of her pieces incorporate elegant Oriental motifs\, adding a timeless and sophisticated touch that has become a hallmark of her work.
